Sacred and Immaculate Heart home Enthronement

We had our pastor, Fr. Ben, over tonight for dinner. He is so much fun to talk to! Zoe and Knox have both received sacraments from him so far. Fr. Ben also enthroned our home and family for us to the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts. This idea came from my out of state friend Erin over at Sacred Music Studies. Coincidentally I got an enthronement kit a few months later from the Carmelite sisters at my parish here in town and have been holding onto it till we could do it in the month of June.

This is the best picture below...look closely

Look at that fat little bottom lip!

The home enthronement was perfectly timed! Last day of June, which is the month to honor the Sacred and Immaculate Hearts, and the night before First Friday and First Saturday of the month! ;)

If you think you want to do a home enthronement, here's a link to look into it- it's a good year to do it- being the year of Mercy. If it's too big of a step for your family, look into the Marian consecrations by Fr. Gaitley or St. Louis de Monfort, or enrollment in the Brown Scapular society or doing First Friday and Saturday Masses.  Little by little you increase your devotion. Now that we have done our enthronement we will have a night adoration hour here in our home. Have a wonderful weekend and Happy 4th of July!

Immaculate Heart Tree Shrine

Ahhh, you didn't see it coming you say!? lol just kidding.  Okay, so my dad pointed out to me he deliberately smoothed the inside by planing it down so the paint would go on easy. And I did notice how nice the first one was I painted last night with the Sacred Heart. And especially around the outside edge where I painted the prayer.  I can't believe how nice the shrines turned out! He did such a good job- with out directions! He's awesome!

And a side by side. I might also go back and touch up my lily's white petals, I think I got a lot of yellow on the one. They both need to be sealed still.  I have another much smaller one to paint- it's made of oak and it's very smooth wood compared to this cedar.

This is what we did today.

Good old Cow Town for Kansan's for Life.

It was bloomin' hot.

Sacred Heart Tree Shrine

I have a very talented woodworking dad- he probably wouldn't claim it, but really he is- anything I have needed he has made for me- and he always does it without directions- because there never are any!
He made my tree shrine tonight, I was soo excited I just got done painting it. I think we'll get the matching Immaculate Heart Tree Shrine up soon. He only had time for one tonight.  It's June so I really wanted to get this done before the end of the month in honor of the feasts.
My goal is to make this a fad. So please please get one made for your yard. It's cheaper than a huge cement statue. You could use a variety of things for this- like an old bird house- just modify it a little.

I am going to screw it straight to one of HUGE Elms we have outside after I get it sealed. We'll see how long it lasts with all this wet weather, I might have it turned away from the north and southwest- our yard is canted anyway, so that will help shield it. And ya know, it is the Sacred Heart...so maybe that in itself will be enough!  It's getting ready to pour right now..lots of lightning and a little boy just jumped in my bed. Thank you for the rain Lord!

Catching up finally!

We officially are in the homestretch to the county fair. Knox's projects are done!  Genna has a cooking project to get done the day before the fair (Cant make cookies or pie too far out obviously).

Let's start with Entomology.  WARNING if you get queasy thinking/looking at bugs, my sons and daughter are not the kids to hang with. All Knox talks about are bugs, at the dinner table, at piano, in the van, in church, in the bathroom...all.day.long.  I have bugs in all my freezers, but he's so excited about pinning and identifying them, as soon as they are dead, he's got them out and doing the ID'ing. Needless to say, we are ahead for next year already ;)

and more for next year...

Onto Geology.

And the hens were checked out by the vets- they are disease free!

Drum rollllll.....

Do you know who Kevin Heider is?  Ya know that cool song St. Brigid's Fire? Yup that's him! And my friend Michelle hosted his concert in her backyard. IT WAS AWESOME!

Salzburg Revolution was amazing!

We finally made our MODG rosaries- I found the kits at the Goodwill (surprise surprise) and I have been just waiting thinking we needed a lot of time, really it didn't take long, and it was a good hour long project at most. Glad I waited till summer to do it with them. Coincidentally they are from Oriental Trading.

How about showing off some MODG pride? Nothing better than a sticker!

It made me a little nervous..

Hope you are having a great weekend!
