Brenden's first time serving as an Altar boy... REALLY

Well this was too cute not to share and too big of a deal as well. Brenden finally has been able to serve our church in some small way...as an altar boy for Stations of the Cross. Ever since Knox started he has been begging me to ask Fr. Ben if he could learn something. He is so eager to help at church in any form. Lucky for us till recently we had a sacristan who was always finding him special jobs to do for her and he was so proud to help in his own way.

I can't tell you how many pictures I have of this kid being dressed up as a priest as well as an altar boy here at home. Ever since we rounded up our mass kit parts a few years ago at the Goodwill, and his siblings made their sacraments. He has been at attention and waiting his turn.  He always wants to be the altar server in the end, and makes Knox be the part of the priest. Anyway, here were some recent photos of them using their mass kit.

Zoe's practicing making her First Communion, only on the tongue ;)

SO now... presenting Brenden as a real Altar server... be sure and scroll to the end...where his rope fell off...

Rope was coming off and I saw Fr. Ben stifle a smile ..lol I am so proud of the boys. Brenden finally had a dream come true!  He didn't stop talking about it last night or this morning. He keeps reminding me how he is going to be doing it now every week. Deo Gratias!

Calendar recycling in to Sacred Art flip books

Hello, hope your Lent it going as best you can. We have had such a bad winter with illness as well as stress from battling a miscarriage. We can't seem to get on our feet around here. But I thought maybe this could be a fun post to share.

I have talked about saving those old pictures and calendars you come across for different art projects in past posts. I finally have such a huge stack (I have been blessed to collect so many) that I was able to find enough to make a stack for each mystery of the Rosary. I have several of each mystery for some- so I just made more than one page.  Anyway, here is what I did, pretty simple, I just glued them into a book. The book can stand alone on a table or on the floor- wherever the kids need it. Use it during your family rosary, it also makes it easy to copy and study with the pictures being upright.

The Canson Mix Media book is sold at Wal-Mart too btw. I like the 98 pound paper and up cause the pages stay nice and stiff and won't have as much wear and tear on them. It has a metal spiral ring in it making it easy to flip completely.

I just started gluing them in order into the book. I left a few blanks pages to add titles to the sections (later on).

Not a whole lot to it. Just use a nice glue stick or spray glue on that heavy paper. I recommend collecting the FSSP calendars if you can, they have the most beautiful pictures by far!
